Scratching in the walls, attic or other areas are all signs that you may require animal in attic removal. Many different types of animals live in the attic of home or business. They get into the property in different ways but they all do damage and carry some health risk.
The most common health risks for animals in the attic are Histoplasmosis, Rabies and Hantavirus but there are more. Generally speaking therefore, you want the animal removed from the attic to prevent unnecessary exposure.
In addition, scratching in the walls or scratching in the attic or walls indicates that property damage is also occurring. If you suspect your attic is currently being occupied by an animal, contact us for a free inspection.
All scratching in the attic is not the same. Is it happening in the day, evening, or late at night? Is there scratching in the walls too? What happens when you knock on the well or ceiling (knock test)? Is is a scratching or more of a thumping or really loud? Are there “bird chirps” that go along with the scratching?
The answers to all of these questions can help you determine what type of animal is in the attic or walls that needs to be removed. Light scratching at night that is in the attic only and stops when the knock test is applied, is probably rats or bats. If there’s is scratching in the walls t’s almost always rats or mice. Sometimes it’s raccoons (babies) in the walls but they will also “chirp” for their mother. Loud scratching or thumping in the night is probably a racoon or possum. Scratching in he morning or early evening that runs when the knock test is applied is probably a squirrel.

Rats love to be around humans, where the food is plentiful. If you have rats in your home, it’s important to have wildlife control services as soon as possible.
Raccoons are scavengers that like to make their nests in attics, sheds, and other human dwellings. Conventional animal trappers may unnecessarily harm them
Squirrels may be cute, but they can create quite a mess. If you have squirrels nesting in your attic, our wildlife removal service can take care of them quickly.
Legally, you can remove the animal yourself but it may not be safe. Most animals are protected and you can get into trouble if you injure or kill the animal. However, you may be able to humanely trap a small, non-poisonous animal and bring it outside. To safely remove an animal from your attic, hire a professional. Removing animals from your attic isn’t cheap – expect to pay at least $500 for an initial visit and plan on paying more if it takes more than one visit to catch the animal.
Are there any home remedies?
If you suspect that a wild animal has taken up residence in your attic, it’s important to do something quickly. animals are notorious for causing damage to roofs and attics, which can be costly to repair. They will also use your attic as a restroom, leaving behind dangerous amounts of feces and urine that can pollute your home’s air. This cleanup process can take weeks or even months, so we highly recommend hiring a professional for an effective solution.
The cost associated with animal removal and remediation depends on the animal, the damage they have done and what needs to be done to restore the home to its previous condition. Our online estimate tool for removal is above. Situations and homes sometimes vary too greatly to estimate it in online though. This is why we offer a free inspection. We’ll photo document everything and give you an idea of cost at completion.
Animals do more than scratch in the walls and attic! Removal of rat droppings from your home will help reduce odors as well as help identify activity in future inspections. If the droppings have been removed, the new droppings will indicate new activity.
Most of the animals that live in the home make a mess that is pretty tough to clean up. The sanitation process eliminates any lingering odors and destroys any parasites that rats may have been carrying. It may not be possible to clean inaccessible areas.
